Ganja
The homeland of the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami the city of Ganja was known as an important centre of craft and trade throughout the Near and Middle East. The city’s landmarks, including the Khan’s Garden, even the city itself, have been renamed repeatedly by various rulers in the cause of their own glorification. Ganja also can boast of its own specialty dishes, including Ganja pakhlava, dovga, kata (analogous to gutabs) and Shah plov. There are many historical sights in nearby regions as well.
